My restorative journey: change amalgam filling with (bulkfill) composite resin, why not?
A patient came to me with a chief complain of his lower back tooth which was quite sensitive and already filled by another operator for more than 5 years. I found out an amalgam filling on mandibular left first molar with a crack lines and secondary caries. After taking a proper informed consent i started my dental treatment as seen on the video. I used bulkfill composite resin with a slight amount of color modifier (tint).
- Rubberdam placement: hu-friedy rubberdam clamp on lower molar and it’s respected sheet
- cavity prepaparation
- Composite resin restoration with Filtek Bulkfill (3M)
- contouring, finishing, and polishing with Soflex (3M), Enhance (dentsplySirona)
- Radiograhic examination with Vistaray 7.1 (Durr) showed an intact margin and homogeneous body of restoration. this will provide a predictable longevity of restoration.
