Retreatment of Occlusal Restoration

A patient came to fix the previous dental filling that already “discolored” on her lower molar, also a cavity on the proximal of the adjacent tooth, and to pull the wisdom tooth. On examination, the first molar reveal secondary caries, while the second molar reveal a broken filling and secondary caries on proximal, and the third one was partially erupted. After taking proper informed consent, i started to work from the first molar.

After placing rubber dam (nictone rubberdam sheet and sanctuary rubberdam clamp) I removed the GI restoration and caries on occlusal and buccal groove. Then, i placed low shrinkage stress packable composite (filtek bulkfill – 3M) followed with placemenf of Ceram-X-one (dentsply). Polishing was done with soflex (3M) and enhance (dentsply). Radiographic examination with VistaRay 7.1 (durr) showed an intact margin of composite resin and tooth structure, also homogeneous body of restoration. This will provide for long term result of the restoration.
