Replacing old and improper GIC Filling

The good embrasure is one of the important thing to be achieved in managing a class II restoration. An overhanging restoration is considered failed in mimic dental anatomy, leads to marginal gingivitis, and periodontitis, also secondary caries due to expected micro leakage.

Here i got this patient complaining her upper left first molar that has been filled for two weeks and still feeling painful. After receiving proper inform consent, I started my dental treatment.

First I removed all the old filling (GIC) , then I put rubber dam (sanctuary rubber dam clamp and sheet) prior to composite filling restoration. I put greater curve matrix and wood wedge, placed bulkfill composite (Filtek bulkfill – 3M) then I put universal composite (Vit~L~essence – Ultradent). Polished with soflex (3M) and enhance (dentsply).

X-ray examination with Vistaray 7.1 (Durr) showed homogenously filled cavity with intact margin from composite resin and tooth structure.
